Church Camps and High Five

We have had a busy summer so far!  The week after school let out, we sent Kaitee & Alex off to Harvest Camp (through our church).  Here are a few pictures from their send off.

We picked up the girls on Friday evening and finished packing the twins to take them to Great Lakes Bible Camp (Awana) the next morning.
6:00 am Ultimate Frisbee - both Maddie & Will up and ready to play!

While the twins were at camp, Alex participated in High Five, which is a day camp for 2nd-5th graders at Harvest.  She practiced many hours to work with the worship team.  After worship, she headed off to the sewing elective where she helped the younger kids for the rest of the day.  She loved her time at High Five!

Last Days at Roosevelt Elementary

Maddie and Will have had a very busy last few weeks of school.  They participated in the Academic Team competition and did pretty well for themselves.  I was impressed with their knowledge!
Another event they participated in was the All City Choir and Band concert.  All 5th graders from the school district practice together for a day and give a concert that evening.  It was well done, especially considering they are 5th graders and had only practiced together (as a full group with Middle School teachers) for one day.

Maddie and Will participated in Wax Museum at school.  Maddie portrayed Laura Ingalls Wilder and Will portrayed Albert Einstein.
Recognition Night - a night I knew would be hard to get through.  Luckily, I was so busy helping with things, I wasn't able to really let the finalization sink in.  After 9 consecutive years at Roosevelt Elem, we said goodbye when the twins "graduated" into Middle School.

The teachers read off each of the kid's accomplishments and activities throughout their time at Roosevelt.  Maddie & Will both had pretty long lists and their teacher wouldn't allow them to stop shaking her hand until she was finished.  Pretty comical.

We were blessed with great scheduling with Matt's dad!  He was in Chicago (from Oregon) for his 50th high school reunion so was able to drive to Moline for the night to celebrate the twins recognition with us.  What a special treat!

We ended our night with a full celebration - Texas Roadhouse for dinner followed by Whitey's Ice Cream for dessert.  A great finish to a wonderful school year.

End of the School Year Whirlwind!

We somehow managed a very very busy last few weeks of school.  With numerous concerts, recognitions, sports events and church things, we were busy for most of May!
We had a good laugh with Kaitee as she looked through her yearbook.  She noticed two names Katherine Hart and Katherine Hort in the index.  After looking through pictures to see what Kathering Hort looked like, she was surprised to see herself as both people!  As you can see, she is on this page twice (Hart and Hort).  We figured out the issue came when she had her first pictures redone - evidently they spelled her name incorrectly on the retakes!  We did notice that she wore the same outfit, down to the headband, for both pictures!
I put together our June calendar and it doesn't seem much better!
