Trip to the Zoo

We headed out to the zoo with cousin Judah & Aunt Teri in early May. This was one of our first visits for the season due to a late opening by the zoo (major improvements being made).
Do you see the fox? He is usually sleeping...so the kids were very excited. We think he wanted Will's snack.
Both are still getting used to the carousel...Will is holding on for dear life...Maddie didn't want me to move away to take the picture!
Will: "Maddie, get your waver out...here comes the train!"
I love Judah's cheesy smile!!

Front Porch - almost finished!!

With the exception of shelving & benches...the front porch is complete!!! And it is BEAUTIFUL!! A big BIG Thank You to Becki's Dad for the many hours of hard work...thanks also to Uncle Willy for installing the floor. We LOVE it!!

Ready for the drywall...

Matt putting in the insulation...
Becki's Dad put up the drywall...
And then plastered it! Look at that beautiful ceiling!! He also helped install the new ceiling fan.
Becki's Dad and Uncle Willy installing the new flooring...
Alex checking out the new floor...
Walls, doors & doorframes are all painted...curtains are up (a little wrinkled however!)
No trim is needed around these walls - our shelves will be built in (as well as 2 window benches with storage).

Field Day 2010

Field Day 2010 at Roosevelt was a wet/muddy one...but that didn't stop the kids from having a ton of fun!! It has rained that morning, but we were fortunate enough to have the rain hold off since there was no raindate for this event! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves! Even Maddie & Will were able to have some fun of their own (including helping Katie's team win in tug-0-war). I find it hard to believe that Katie is going into 3rd...Alex 1st...and the twins are only 1 year away from Kindergarten. Where did my babies go???

Summer Fun

I was able to capture this great shot the other day. The kids were outside playing in their kiddy pool when I offered them a popsicle. While eating the popsicles, I noticed how the 3 sat right next to each other like this...I ran & grabbed the camera...layed on my tummy to get the perfect angle...I got one picture (this one!) before they all turned around!

more painting

My latest project was painting the stairwell to the basement. It has been in need of a new paint job for a while now, but I always figured it would be hard to reach every part since it was on the stairs...it proved to be not too difficult! It took me all of one weekend to "complete" it (I am not quite finished as you will notice the ceiling in the second picture). We have ordered a new (steel) door, as this one is wood...put in a new light fixture...and I will be putting new hooks up for the keys and a few pictures up too. I am not going to finish painting until the new door is in - I am sure that I will have a few things to touch up once that is finished!
