Meek Family Visit

In July, the Meek family came for a visit (Judah & Steve had a bike race in Port Byron). It was wonderful to see Teri, Steve & Judah. We celebrated Teri's birthday while together, shopped, ate lots of great food and hung out together for hours on end. It is always a great time when family is together - always too short. 

The twins were in Guatemala while the Meek family was visiting - I'm not sure how we missed getting pictures of the remaining grandkids?!? 

We said our goodbyes and now look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas when we will see them again.

Freeport - 2023

Freeport, IL - an annual day trip for the Hart family. Matt and I have been driving to Freeport once a year for the last 25 years. It is a favorite for us!

We marked the calendar and asked the kids to request the day off from work/keep their day open. 

Our first stop once in town was Union Dairy for ice cream! 

After ice cream we walked next door to Debate Square - the location of one of the historic debates between Lincoln & Douglas. There is a platform statue on the square that we always get a picture of the kids. 

Next stop was Krape Park - another family favorite!

A few years ago, we started to ride the paddle boats with the kids and it quickly became another fun tradition. 

Up next - Merry-Go-Round

We were shocked to see that the price was now $1/ride. When the kids were little, we could get 4 tickets for $1! The kids picked their horse and then enjoyed the ride.

After the Merry-Go-Round, we walked around the park. 

We ended our time in Freeport shopping at their Goodwill store then heading to Manny's in Savannah for pizza.
