Awards and Honors

This past week has been an amazing week with lots of honors & awards!

Last Saturday, Katie & Alex both competed in our local Awana Bible Quiz.  Both girls studied their books diligently the past few weeks and it paid off!  Teams consist of Awana clubbers (up to 3 per team).  They are asked a set of 8 multiple choice questions and 8 written questions.  I am always amazed at how hard the questions can be!  We are so proud of both girls - bringing home 1st place medals!

The following Tuesday, Alex was honored with the Awana "Clubber of the Month" Award!!  This is an honor that is given to a boy & a girl who earned the most points (going through sections/verses in their book) and shows exemplary behavior.  Katie has won this award all 3 years that she has been in the T&T group of Awana (it is only given at this level).  It was given to Alex for the first time - her first year!

The next day (Wednesday), we were invited to attend a reception for the John Deere Special Recognition Awards.  Katie and her friend Kaeleen were nominated and selected to receive this award because of their help in gift giving this past Christmas (through the school).  It was a wonderful reception!  Of the 7 students (K-12 in the Moline School District), 4 were from Roosevelt Elementary!  We are excited to be in a school that has such special students and teachers!
