Easter 2022

 We loved celebrating Easter with our church and later in the day with our extended family. What a glorious day to celebrate - the resurrection of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ!

We also came together as a church to remember Jesus on the day he was crucified. It was a somber but sweet service. We live with the promise of Sunday and eternity thanks to the sacrifice that Jesus made on that cross.

The past few years, our church has ended the service with a "confetti" celebration. Fun Times!

After the service, we headed out to Ron & Rose's house (Becki's parents) for dinner and the traditional egg hunt! Ron had a busy morning of putting the eggs out in the back yard(s) (as you can see in the pictures)! Before the hunt began, the kids played some bags.

Rose had all of the grandkids decorate their brown bags...

Then they lined up for a picture out on the deck. Here they are recreating a picture from 10 years earlier! *Judah didn't travel home for Easter, but Teri held his picture in his place! Ha!

Just before the chaos ensued...

Rose has gotten more and more creative with the egg hunt as the kids have gotten older. Any way to make the hunt go on a bit longer and a bit harder! The first thing she added - tongs! No hands allowed, only tongs. This year, she had the kids place their bags on the ground and made them run to grab the eggs (with their tongs) and then run back to their bag. She had them find certain colors then certain sizes (ex - find a large red egg followed by a little blue egg...only one egg at a time). 

She then had everyone partner up to get eggs together (last year she actually bungie corded the teams together! This year, she made them hold hands). Some of the teams enjoyed that a bit more than others, ha!

In the end, Rose had everyone "clean up" their back yard and then "clean up" Uncle Willy's yard. It was quite the site - looked like a bunch of chickens running around!

After the egg hunt, we headed inside for a bible lesson on Passover tied in to the celebration of Easter.

Kaitee was dealing with ear issues so she couldn't hear things very well (hence the cupped hands to help her hear better, lol).

After the Passover lesson, Rose gave directions for the last part of the egg hunt. All of the remaining eggs were hidden upstairs in the house, including the 3 coveted "Camo Eggs". Will, Maddie and Emma found the Camo eggs ($5 in each). 

In all, there were just shy of 700 eggs!!! The eggs are filled with change (just shy of $155 in total). The kids can keep their money or cash some of it in for candy. It's a pretty sweet deal (pun intended!).

I realized (after the fact) that I didn't get a picture of Kaitee with her eggs. She was in the other room, enjoying the quiet...all by herself!

We ended our evening with dinner and fellowship. It was a wonderful time spent together with family. A few of the kids played a card game of "Mega War". "Grandad kick our butts" - Kaitee

Our day together came to a close too quickly. What a wonderful way to celebrate Jesus and the life we have because of His sacrifice!
